While watching the Lakers and Oklahoma City game on Sunday, I watched Meta World Peace take a cheap shot at his opponent James Harden. World Peace had just dunked the ball at a crucial point in the game. As he was celebrating and going back to get on defense he ended up elbowing Harden in the ear, sending him to the ground. After much review the officials decided to throw World Peace out of the game. Harden was taken to the locker room and was diagnosed with a concussion. Meta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, has a background of having anger issues. He has seeked professional help to help cope with his anger issues. He claims that the elbow was just an accident, but after watching the replays, as a viewer, one can tell that the elbow was not an accident. Athletes deal with anger issues all the time. Some athletes deal with it physically and some deal with it mentally, but this situation goes to show that if an athlete truly has an anger issue it cannot go untreated. It is important for athletes to be able to seek help to help deal with emotions. I think that Meta should be suspended not only for the next few games, but for the rest of the season. What he did was not by any means okay and he should be punished for his actions.
